I help people work through and overcome a wide range of problems.

You might have a diagnosed medical condition such as:

  • Stroke

  • Traumatic brain injury or concussion

  • Parkinson's disease

  • Alzheimer's disease

  • Dementia

  • Mild Cognitive Impairment

Or you might just be frustrated by difficulties in specific areas of communication and thinking, like:

  • Attention/concentration

  • Memory

  • Making decisions

  • Speaking clearly

  • Understanding speech or writing

  • Thinking of the words you want to say

  • Reading

  • Writing

You may find it hard to do things like:

  • Stay organized at work

  • Pay your bills on time or budget

  • Manage your medications

  • Remember appointments

  • Study for classes

  • Make and keep friends

  • Get along with your coworkers

  • Keep up in conversations with your friends or family members

Or—it's none of these things, and you are looking for help to figure out exactly what the problem is!

Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) are educated, trained, and knowledgeable in providing services for people experiencing challenges in the areas of speech, language and cognition—such as attention, memory, and organization.

These three basic areas impact EVERYTHING we do in our daily lives. We communicate with other people or have to think through and remember things to do ANYTHING for ourselves. And you don't have to have a diagnosed “disorder” to struggle with social situations, workplace relationships, managing your household, and so on.

 FAQs

  • Yes! The most up-to-date research we have on rehabilitation shows that if you keep working hard--and with the right focus--you can continue to make improvements in your skills and your quality of life long after your injury.

  • In most cases, yes. Dementia and its effects are not currently curable, and it is a degenerative disorder. This means that things will gradually get harder over time. However, identifying and using cognitive supports and strategies is a proven way to help people with dementia maintain their current state of function longer and to have more independence in their daily lives.

  • I am happy to do an initial evaluation to help you figure out if what you’re experiencing is normal for your age and stage of life or if there may be cause for concern. If the results indicate a need for more follow-up, it is best if that happens before we move forward with therapy. This is important so that we don’t miss a serious problem and the chance to treat it with the help of other professionals, before it gets worse.

  • I'm happy to do a phone consultation to delve into this question more. Depending on what difficulties you're having, I may recommend an evaluation and course of therapy, or I may refer you to another resource. You don't have to have a disorder to benefit from cognitive-communication coaching.

  • This is an individual decision. Most of my clients have weekly appointments at the beginning, with appointments more spread out as they get comfortable with their home exercise programs or start knocking out goals.

  • No, at this time I am able to accept private pay only. However, I am happy to give my clients a “superbill.” This is a document that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. It includes my treatment diagnosis and an account of the services I provide monthly. It is then your responsibility to send the superbill in to your insurance company.

  • I take credit/debit cards through my website, Venmo, cash, and checks. Payment is due at time of service.

  • Yes! Speech Therapy is an eligible expense, and I am able to securely process your HSA debit/credit card through my client portal.
